Project
Méo, compostable capsules
Year
2022
Role
Motion design · Animation
Description
From bean to capsule, a series of short films for Méo. I animated the drawings and typography for M-Agency’s campaign: four episodes, a combined film and a six-second ad.
The series
Four films, one visual language
Craft, composition, taste and use: each episode develops one part of the campaign. Paper remains the backdrop, while beans, letters and objects carry the transitions from one idea to the next.
Storyboards A and D
Finding room for the story
Frédéric Dauges’s storyboards establish the sequence and voice-over. Film D was initially planned for fifteen seconds. Its nine steps needed more time: the edit was extended, then the home-composting shot held longer so the action could be read.
Process
Putting the drawings in motion
The rotating capsule, converging beans and roasting motion were first tested separately. These studies show the volumes and paths before they were combined with the paper background, typography and sound.
Six seconds
The YouTube ad condenses the campaign around the product and three verbs: taste, savour, compost. This 28 March version predates the April adjustments, which are missing from the recovered archive.
